Juan Carlos López, a pioneer in the cultivation and production of goji berries in Spain

Juan Carlos López was born in Germany and studied Computer Science. Son of a Sevilian emigrant and a German citizen, he was born and lived all his life in this Central European country. In 2007, he decided to settle in Almonte (Huelva, Andalusia) and a few years later, he launched a new project that was as original as risky: Juan Carlos developed the first goji berries farm in Spain along with two partners. According to López, thanks to its antioxidant and antibacterial properties, and its vitamins and minerals, this fruit originary from the Himalayas is “one of the healthiest products in the world.” After a difficult start because of the ignorance of the European market regarding these berries, he began to expand his horizons from his farm, located in Niebla (Huelva),to the Swiss, German, Austrian and Belgian markets.

Robert Stockwell, corn with the flavours of Andalusia winning over the European palate

Corn dried under the Andalusian sun. Sunflower oil from Cadiz and Seville. Salt from the Bay of Cadiz. Malta, Switzerland,Iceland, France, and Israel are just some of the countries that they are exported to. It is Robert Stockwell who is behind this success, an American who came to Cadiz in the 80s to work with his brother, Bruce, in a Tex Mex restaurant–  one of the first of this type in Spain – and who was born in the heat of the North American Naval Station Rota. Shortly after, Robert decided to launch his own brand of nachos using high quality, local ingredients.
