Motoreta, architecture which becomes children’s fashion with its own language

From a small studio in the city centre of Seville, the creations of a children’s fashion brand called Motoreta, get to more than 25 countries, being sold in 100 retail outlets worldwide. The entrepreneurs who founded it were positive that their designs were made to cross borders. Architects Cristina López-Lago and María Llerena started this business venture in summer 2013, launching their first collection in Paris. 95% of their production is sold outside Spain, mainly in South Korea and the United States. Becoming a mother motivated Cristina to look for a different way of doing things. She takes care of the design and María, her partner, is in charge of marketing, branding and the rest of issues. Both have taken the concept of design to a fashion field controlled by stereotypes, and sustainability to an industry which usually puts product before people. This isn’t the case of Motoreta, which is part of the Slow fashion movement.
