An electronic nose transforms odor into mathematic data to test the quality of natural compost

Immature compost can be toxic for plants. This is why researchers of the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville have counted on the collaboration of the University of Huelva to develop a device test the quality of compost before applying it over a crop. It is an electronic nose that uses smell to detect chemical and biological processes developed in a natural compost sample to make sure that it is mature enough to be employed.
