Organic varnish made out of tomato skin to eliminate the use of chemicals from cans

Tomato skin is resistant, even to heat, thanks to the natural polyester it contains. Researchers from the Institute for Materials Science in Seville use this element to produce an organic varnish that can be used to coat the interior of food cans. This low cost substance is obtained from the waste generated by the tomato industry. This healthier organic varnish could be a substitute for the chemicals used in industry for food preservation.
