José María Madiedo, using stars and meteorites to study the origin of the solar system

When he was a child he would consume Astronomy books and look up at the sky contemplating lunar eclipses. Born in Cádiz, nowadays José María Madiedo is one of Spain’s most important astrophysicists, as head of the MIDAS project, with which he has found the biggest and longest flash impact against the moon so far. A professor at the University of Huelva, he combines his work as a teacher with researching. He is also head of the SMART project where he looks for meteor and meteorite impacts made on Planet Earth. His work allows for the analysis of interplanetary material so as to give light to the forming of the solar system.
