His career as manager is marked by Spain’s national team reaching the European Championship. The national players are currently preparing for their second World Championship, which they have already qualified for, and which will take place in Sydney in October 2017.
Valerie Samayoa, the fastest and most international fencer in Andalusia
Valerie Samayoa began fencing at the age of 12. She is now 16, has competed internationally ten times and is the most esteemed figure in Andalusian fencing, having participated eleven times in Spanish Championships. She trains at the Maracena Fencing Club in Granada and after three years is approaching her hundredth official competition (regional, national and international).
Daniel Rodríguez, a top sprinter
Daniel Rodríguez, 22 years old and from Casanueva in Granada, has been declared Spanish champion in the indoor 200m straight, in the competition that took place in Salamanca in early 2017. He is currently a member of the Playas de Castellón club, with which he won second place in the European Clubs League. After the under-23 European Championships, his next goal is to be in the outdoor Spanish Championship. His dream is to be in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
María and Nicolás Jiménez, siblings heading towards the taekwondo elite
María is 17 years old, and Nicolás is 13. They are a brother and sister from Mairena del Alcor in Seville, and in total they have more than fifty medals in different categories of taekwondo. Amongst other achievements, María won Junior Champion of Spain in 2017 and Nicolás was the Spanish club champion in the junior category in 2015. What’s the secret of their success? They both agree: putting in a lot of effort, training every day and enjoying what they do. They have both found a second home in the TKD Mairena, one of the main taekwondo clubs in Andalusia.
