Baldomero García, artisan mastership to mould the future of pottery

He grew up surrounded by potter’s wheels, vessels and mud; and when he was only five years old, he began to play with what would become his profession and his passion, pottery. Baldomero García is part of the seventh generation of a potter family from Níjar, Almería. He claims that he is sad because there were twenty pottery workshops in Níjar, of which only two remain: his and his cousin’s. The reason why Baldomero was awarded with the Master Artisan Card by the Andalusian Government is that he decided to open a pottery school, where he teaches students of all ages so this tradition doesn’t disappear.
