Gerundino Fernández, a luthier who follows the family tradition

Born in Almería, Gerundino Fernández grew up in his father’s workshop. He had his same name and was one of the best luthiers in Spain. His father built guitars for great artists such as Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo and Eric Clapton. Since he was a child, he has observed how the building of each instrument required patience, great dedication and expertise. However, until 2015, he worked in the construction sector. It was his wife who encouraged him to follow in the footsteps of his father and become a professional luthier. His instruments have been played by Raimundo Amador, who was an admirer of his father’s work, and sold in France, Germany and Japan.
