From the very first moment he attended to a Sports Physiology class at the university, Jonatan Ruiz fell in love with this bond between health and sports. Since then, he has been focused on this field. Recently, the AstraZeneca Foundation has given him the Young Researcher Award in the Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity Area. He is a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Sport Science Faculty of the University of Granada, where he studies the effects of exercise over the activation of brown fat, a tissue which produces heat, and the regulation of glucose levels in blood, and its application in the prevention of diseases such as diabetes. He has collaborated in several international institutions, amongst them, the Karolinska Institute.
