Juan Manuel García Ruiz manages, in Granada, the Crystallographic Studies Lab, centre of the CSIC and the University of Granada, and his current research is focused on knowing what Earth was like before life began. A work which is taking him to study in landscapes which can currently only be found in places like Kenya and Ethiopia. Together with Javier Trueba he created the documentary ‘The Mystery of the Giant Crystals’ in the Naica Cave in Mexico.
