Jairo Ruiz, a pioneer in Spanish Paralympic triathlon

Almerian Jairo Ruiz won the first Paralympic medal of Spanish triathlon in Rio 2016. His bronze medal was a landmark in the history of this sport, which he began to practise in 2011, after having practised swimming and taekwondo when he was a child. He has a malformation in his left arm, but that has never stopped him from accomplishing his goals. With perseverance, he won, among other competitions, the Word Duathlon Championship and a European Cross Duathlon Championship. Since four years ago, Jairo lives in the High Performance Centre of Madrid, thanks to a grant awarded by the ADOP Plan, which supports Paralympic athletes. There he trains around five or six hours a day.
